Will I REALLY have to lie in other for my manga to become popular?

I think I will, or at least trick readers. I totally fear that many people won't give my manga a chance if they knew my main character was black. They'll think it's only for blacks, which is NOT TRUE. My manga is for everybody to enjoy. ^_^ Do you think Kingdom Hearts or Jak & Daxter would have became popular, let alone got made, if the main characters were black? Maybe, but I heard that blacks don't sell (unless it's Will Smith or Afro Samurai) & that made me less confident in my manga.
