Is my green mound juniper dead?

i received a really cool green mound juniper for christmas. the tag said to water daily in spring, summer and fall. well it was winter, so i was like, great, see you in spring. well, i didnt take into consideration after doing some quick research that winter could have meant outside, and this was inside all winter. after inspecting it this past week, its very very britle. when i touch a branch its easy to break off. so, its still "looks" very alive, but i dont know.
