Is creationism a scandal?

I agree that Creationism seriously undermines America, for exactly the reasons you state. I have a problem with the word "scandal" which implies that the consequences of such nonsense are trivial. I think Creationism and Intelligent Design are a total disaster -- both for Christianity and for the human race. Unless brainwashed Christian youth reject the willful ignorance of their superstitious parents, they will have no real economic future. Without embracing a scientific education, the next generation has absolutely no chance of ever matching the prosperity of their parents. Superstitious Christianity is in the process of destroying the American economy and will not be satisfied until we're all so damned ignorant we are unable to feed ourselves. A "scandal"? ...hardly. More like a total disaster for human civilization.
