HELP WITH MY ADOPTION?

Recently found out I was adopted from an orphanage in Tehran, Iran - SHOCKER. There are no records/paper work about me so I hae absolutely no idea about my roots and I would, of course, like to know who I came from but have no information to help me and iran being in turmoil, would records still be held? (was born in mid 1960s ??) came to UK late 60s and stayed here. Is there anyone who has the same experience and found a way to get any information about their birth parents, their beginnings etc, I have tried many avenues but cause I have no doentation it is very difficult, any information would be greatly appreciated.
