Do people forget that Jesus was born in a stable?

surrounded by animals? when we see the glitz and glamor of vatican city and some of the pristine protestant churches around the world,do we forget that Jesus the king of kings,whom God could of built a castle for,was born in such a simple manner.Does anyone else feel strange when seeing these sites?just curious.
