Would Afro-americans have received their Deprived Of Civil & Human Rights if they hadn't become more Militant?

I myself believe not,or it would have been much later. I am not advocating Militancy and Violence,but wasn't a tougher stand needed when they were victims of Violence themselves. The Black Pantners,Malcolm X,etc were just as relevant and necessary as the Great Martin Luther King JJr,Freedom Riders,etc,were they not? I'd like to hear Sincere Opinions on this.......especially frm Afro-Americans. Thank You!
