Recipe on the cover of Cuisine Magazine 10+ yrs ago?

I'm looking for the chocolate cake recipe on the cover of Cuisine Magazine (maybe the November issue??) more than 10 years ago. The cake had about 30 layers which were applied with a pastry brush and baked for 2 minutes. After two layers were applied, pistachios and current jelly were applied and the process was repeated about 30 times. When the cake was sliced, the slices looked like the bark of a tree. The magazine has been out of business for quiet some time. Does anyone have any old copies of the magazine and can look up the recipe for me. It was the cake featured on the cover of the magazine.
