If I keep dying my hair red, will it eventually get brighter?

My hair naturally is dark brown with a red tint (all the women in my family are ginger but I'm quarter Chinese, so I've got elements of red in it). However, I want it BRIGHT red, like Emilie Autumn's. So if I keep dying it a bright red shade, will it eventually get brighter, cos my friend told me that it would, if I kept dying it with the same color.
